English Bio – observations and considerations – artistic practice
Choreographer and interdisciplinary artist, originally from Mexico City, 1982. I have being working with the body for more than 25 years. Studied ballet and contemporary dance as a child, broke my aquiles tendon as a professional dancer, fact that guided me through a somatic approach to my body and there for my sense of choreography. As choreographer, dancer, teacher and visual artist I like to think on a interdisciplinary and collaborative way of living and creating. My choreographic work has to do with the interaction between the body and its environment, social approach, improvisation, philosophy and poetry of the movement. The space, synchronicity, senses and being with the music and the rythm. Visually, I dare the abstract of the image and its multiple interpretations in conjunction with movement and music. Currently I am part of the Collective So (r) oridad Mujeres en el Arte www.sororidad.com.mx. Women in art in Mexico City. Also, codirected and experimented on a project of scenic and digital arts, Menta Movement, where I explored interactivity and performance www.mentamovement.com.
As a dancer I worked with latin and international companies like, Malaika Kusumi (DE), Budapest Improvisation Festival (HU), Mitrovika (MX), Danza Butoh 0.618 (MX).
